Speakers
JARED MAPLES - Director, New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness
Jared Maples was named Director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) on June 5, 2017. In his role, he serves as the federally designated Homeland Security Advisor (HSA) to the Governor and is the Cabinet-level executive responsible for coordinating and leading New Jersey’s Counterterrorism, Cybersecurity, and Emergency Preparedness efforts. Director Maples joined NJOHSP in January 2016 as Director of the Division of Administration. The Division of Administration encompasses all information technology and security, human resources, facilities management, and financial activities for the Office, including oversight of millions of dollars in federal homeland security grant funding.
REBECCA RAKOSKI - Managing Partner, XPAN Law
Rebecca L. Rakoski is the managing partner at XPAN Law Partners. Rebecca counsels and defends public and private corporations, and their boards, during data breaches and responds to state/federal regulatory compliance and enforcement actions. As an experienced litigator, Rebecca has handled hundreds of matters in state and federal courts. Rebecca skillfully manages the intersection of state, federal, and international regulations that affect the transfer, storage, and collection of data to aggressively mitigate her client's litigation risks. Rebecca serves on the New Jersey State Bar Association's Cyber Task Force. Rebecca is Vice-Chair Elect for the New Jersey State Bar Association's Bankruptcy Law Section and also served on the Complex Business Litigation Committee that drafted and revised the Court Rules involving electronic discovery in complex litigation matters.
STAN MIERZWA - Director and Lecturer, Center for Cybersecurity, Kean University
Stan is widely recognized as a leader in the field of digital health technology and Cybersecurity, particularly innovations that are both relevant and usable in low-resource settings. Stan is currently the Director, Center for Cybersecurity at Kean University, where he also lectures in Foundations in Cybersecurity, Cyber Policy, Digital Crime and Terrorism, and Cybersecurity Risk Management. Previously, Stan worked at the State of New York, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Police as the Lead Application Security. Prior to the MTA, Stan was the Director of Information Technology at the Population Council. Under his leadership, the Population Council’s proprietary, award-winning audio computer-assisted self-interviewing (ACASI) survey software he developed has been successfully used in field- and clinic-based NIH sponsored public health research.
JAMES MCQUIGGAN - Security Awareness Advocate for KnowBe4
James McQuiggan, CISSP, is a 20 year security veteran and Security Awareness Advocate for KnowBe4. James is also a part time faculty professor at Valencia College in the Engineering, Computer Programming & Technology Division. Within the Central Florida community, he is the President of the Central Florida (ISC)² (pronounced I-S-C Squared) Chapter and a Trustee Board member with the Center for Cyber Safety and Education. James has worked as a Product & Solution Security Officer, Information Security analyst and a network security engineer. He consulted and supported various corporate divisions on cybersecurity standards, information security awareness and securing product networks.
SAJED "SAJ" NASEEM - CISO, NJ Courts
Sajed Naseem (“Saj”), is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of New Jersey Courts. Sajed has over twenty years of experience with information security and information technology across many industries. As the Chief Information Security Officer ("CISO") of the New Jersey Courts, Sajed has focused on Cybersecurity Readiness & Performance, Information Governance, and Network Security. Sajed holds Masters Degrees from St. John’s University and Columbia University. Sajed routinely speaks at Cybersecurity conferences nationally, Europe and with the New Jersey Bar Association. Sajed is also an Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University in Information Security since 2010 and a native of New York City.
JOEL CAMINER - Director, Cyber Security Education
Joel Caminer is the Director of Cyber Security Education at New York University (NYU) Tandon School of Engineering. Joel has 20+ years of experience in Financial Services, IT, and Consulting, and has led many strategic initiatives across the IT Risk and cybersecurity spectrum. He previously served as the Global Head of Technology Risk Management at TD Securities; VP of Information Risk Management at Goldman Sachs and CISO of GS Bank; and Manager at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). Joel holds a BSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MS in Cyber Security from NYU.
