Message From The President

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over and my daughter is off to college again! I thought that I would be relaxing more, but I found myself and our small army of volunteers actually working harder! Our volunteers have proved to be invaluable and I couldn't even fathom taking on all of these projects without them.

Just this summer alone, we started our JuMP mentorship program, partnered with NYU, created another networking event in Gathertown, and we are now in the midst of planning our first in-person event, a picnic! With the help of our dedicated volunteers, these initiatives were all happening while we continued to hold our monthly events and newsletters. Can't wait to see what we come up with during the second half of this year!

If you want to know how you can be a more active member in our growing community, please reach out to me at president@isc2chapternj.org.

Jumpstart Mentorship Program (JuMP) Feedback

We received wonderful feedback from Session 1 of our JuMP Series!

We asked our Mentees " What did you find beneficial from your meetings?" Below are their amazing responses:

Adam Shuren:

“We talked about the business end of IT, such as risk transfer, costs and solutions, in a broad way to gauge my level of understanding of the topic. Next, we dovetailed into his experience entering the IT Security field.  This was very helpful because in my current role, it's mostly IT, so I was able to hear his approach and how he found his success in the field. Finally, we got into some pathways for me, which after review, was exactly what I needed to hear. The discussion around which certifications helped clarify the role I seek, which is in policy creation and auditing. It was very informative and also validated some of the things I was thinking about for the role.”

Vijoy Mathai:

“I found everything beneficial. We especially spoke about my interests and worked on a 3 year plan.”

Richard Ingordo:

“Pete was a great source of information. He has fresh ideas that I felt really gave me motivation in a role where it’s been lacking lately. He also brought the NYU program to my attention which I wasn’t aware of before."

Imel Edrada:

"Mike gave me a lot of pointers on resume writing as well as on LinkedIn profile. He also provided resources on resume, profile writing, career or job resources. He was very helpful and a very good mentor."

Thank you to our wonderful mentors participating in this program!
